The Kensington Family, A&E Intervention Season 20
Jim was selected by fellow intervention professionals to help a Philadelphia family featured on A&E’s Intervention during the height of the Kensington addiction crisis. The woman at the center of that episode had lived on those streets for nearly two decades. Today she is alive, thriving, and has never returned.
Method
Jim works in the Johnson Model tradition, developed by Dr. Vernon Johnson in the 1960s. It is a structured, prepared, family-led intervention. The family is coached in advance, each participant prepares what they will say, treatment is arranged before the intervention begins, and the loved one is presented with one clear message and one immediate path into care. The goal is to break through denial with preparation and love, not chaos.
Every case begins with a direct conversation with Jim, often an hour or longer. Some situations are not right for an intervention, and when medical detox or emergency psychiatric care has to come first, Jim says so.
